“Apala Groove” marks another collaboration between DJ Tunez and Terry Apala, following their previous work on “Apala Disco.” Their latest release continues the musical direction explored in their earlier collaboration, with Terry Apala once again bringing his distinctive vocal delivery and Apala-inspired approach to the record.
DJ Tunez provides the production framework with a groove-driven arrangement built around percussion, melodies and contemporary Afrobeats elements. The production leaves enough space for Terry Apala’s vocals to remain a major part of the song, allowing his phrasing and delivery to shape the character of the record.
Terry Apala’s contribution gives the song its strongest connection to its title and musical identity. His ability to incorporate Apala influences into contemporary sounds has become a notable part of his artistic style, and that approach fits naturally into DJ Tunez’s production.
The collaboration also reflects the continued evolution of Nigerian music, where traditional sounds and modern production techniques frequently meet. Rather than presenting Apala music in a purely traditional setting, “Apala Groove” places its influence within a contemporary Afrobeats framework.
For DJ Tunez, the release adds another entry to his catalogue of collaborations that explore different sounds and musical influences. For Terry Apala, it provides another opportunity to bring his indigenous-inspired sound to a modern audience.
With its combination of rhythmic production, contemporary Afrobeats elements and Terry Apala’s recognizable vocal style, “Apala Groove” offers listeners another meeting point between tradition and modern Nigerian music.
