Ghanaian Afro-fusion artist Gyakie has released “Sankofa,” the lead single from her upcoming debut album After Midnight

Co-written with Eyram Gbewonyo (Afrolektra), the soulful track draws on the Ghanaian Adinkra symbol “Sankofa,” meaning “to retrieve what is lost,” and explores themes of healing, reflection, and emotional reconnection. With stripped-down production and poignant vocals, Gyakie offers a deeply personal story shaped by solitude, grief, and her mother’s midnight prayers.

As her first release of 2025, Sankofa sets a powerful, introspective tone for After Midnight, positioning Gyakie as a rising force in global Afro-fusion.
