1da Banton Ignites the Dancefloor with Vibrant New Single “Woza”

Nigerian genre-bending sensation 1da Banton has returned with “Woza,” an electrifying new single released via Squareball Entertainment in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment France. Following the success of his 2025 EP Walk With Me, this latest offering reinforces 1da Banton’s status as one of Afrobeats' most versatile and internationally-minded artists.

“Woza” — a Zulu word meaning “come” — is

a sonic invitation to move, feel, and celebrate. Produced by DJ Lewis, the track is a masterclass in Afro-fusion, laced with rhythmic talking drums, melodic layers, and 1da Banton’s smooth, storytelling-driven vocals. True to form, he seamlessly blends Afrobeats, reggae, and traditional Rivers State elements into a cohesive and irresistible sound. The result is a high-energy anthem destined for club rotations and dance playlists around the globe.

Since his breakout with “No Wahala” in 2021—and its chart-topping 2022 remix with Kizz Daniel and Tiwa Savage—1da Banton has carved a distinct niche in the Nigerian music scene. His fusion of infectious rhythms and lyrical substance continues to earn him accolades and streams, with “No Wahala” alone amassing over 200 million Spotify plays.

A Strategic Rollout with Star Power

The rollout for “Woza” was just as impactful as the track itself. Teased on April 23 via X (formerly Twitter), 1da Banton posted a nostalgic throwback clip with the caption “WOZA🧨 OUT NOW!!” The song quickly gained traction, especially after superstar Davido, amid his 5ive album buzz, amplified the release with a co-sign. In a music industry where competition often overshadows collaboration, 1da Banton publicly thanked Davido for the rare gesture—an exchange that fans praised as a refreshing show of unity.

Building Momentum

“Woza” arrives on the heels of several solid releases from 1da Banton, including Digest and Paid in Full in 2024. Each track has showcased a different facet of his artistry, from introspective lyricism to feel-good party energy. With a career that launched in Port Harcourt and took flight in Lagos under Squareball Entertainment, 1da Banton’s journey has been defined by steady growth and bold experimentation.

From his early days with The Banton EP in 2017—featuring Way Up, the Big Brother Naija theme song—to the global reach of Original Vibe Machine in 2021 and high-profile collaborations with Kranium, Stonebwoy, and Zlatan, his resume continues to expand. Notably, No Wahala even landed a sync placement in Ted Lasso’s 2023 season, further cementing his international appeal.

A Sound That Travels

As “Woza” gains momentum, it’s more than just another Afrobeats release—it’s a reaffirmation of 1da Banton’s unique musical identity. With his knack for crafting globally resonant songs rooted in Nigerian culture, he stands out in a field increasingly crowded with formulaic sounds.

Whether you're catching the first listen or already vibing to the beat, “Woza” feels like the start of something bigger—a lead-up to a tour, a visual rollout, or perhaps another project that deepens 1da Banton’s already rich sonic palette.
