Timaya Talks About Drug Addiction

Timaya, a famous Nigerian singer, shared his story of overcoming drug addiction in a radio interview. He talked openly about how he fought the addiction and how it hurt his body and mind.

Timaya being so honest can help others who are struggling with addiction know they are not alone and that getting help is possible. He showed that anyone can be affected by addiction, but with hard work and support, people can recover.

“I’m not a saint; I’ve done drugs.” Timaya opened up on the radio, admitting he battled a serious drug addiction. He stressed the difficulties he faced, especially during the 2020 lockdown, emphasising the specific challenges he encountered during that timeframe.

As he narrated, Timaya shared a turning point in his story. He went to a gathering where everyone seemed super happy. He learned about a drug called Molly and, curiously, tried it. The drug made him feel amazing, but over time, using it more and more started to hurt his health.

“It was during COVID 2020, I went to a young guy’s house, and everyone was so happy, and I was like, ‘What’s going on, How are you guys happier than me?’ Then they told me that it wasn’t weed. It was Molly, and I was like, ‘Molly, what is that?’ So they brought it out, and after I took it, I didn’t understand myself; I was so happy. So I wanted to continue feeling like that, and that’s how I lost a lot of weight. I wasn’t eating; I was just happy,” Timaya explained.

Timaya also thanked his fans, who saw how the drug was affecting him. They noticed changes in his behaviour and how unhealthy he looked, and they kept encouraging him to get help and stop. But at first, Timaya said he wouldn’t listen. He even argued with people who cared about him and wanted him to be well.
