Burna Boy Loses Four Nominations at the Grammy Awards 2024

Despite being nominated in four categories, Burna Boy did not win any awards at the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony. The Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, was up for honors in the Global Music Performance. As well as Best African Music Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Global Music Album categories, but unfortunately, he did not secure a victory in any of them.

The track ‘Alone’ by Burna Boy was defeated by Zakir Hussain, Bela Fleck, and Edgar Myer’s song ‘Pashto,’ which emerged victorious in the Global Music Performance category.

Additionally, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’ did not secure the win in the Best African Music Performance category, as South African singer Tyla claimed the award for her song ‘Water.’

Taking the third spot was the Best Melodic Rap Performance category, snagged by American rappers Lil Durk and J Cole. They clinched the win with their song ‘All My Life,’ surpassing Burna Boy and 21 Savage’s ‘Sittin’ On Top of the World.’

Unfortunately for Burna Boy, his fourth nomination in the Best Global Music Album category didn’t result in a win. The award went to World fusion band Shakti for their album ‘This Moment,’ leaving Burna Boy’s nominated album, ‘I Told Them,’ without the Grammy victory.
